Letter from the Vicar for Education & Formation

Dear Friends,
Welcome to Catholic education in the Diocese of Bridgeport!
“Find your delight in the Lord and He will grant you the desires of your heart” (Ps. 37:4)
This verse expresses something essential about the mission of Catholic education: our deepest desires are not discovered apart from God, but in relationship with Him. As young people grow in knowledge, faith, and virtue, they begin to recognize both who God has created them to be and the life to which He is calling them.
Catholic education in the Diocese of Bridgeport seeks to bring this reality to life. Our school communities lead students to an encounter with Jesus Christ, helping them to recognize the dignity of every person and prepare for lives of faith, service, and holiness, while pursuing and achieving academic excellence.
This mission is carried out each day through the profound witness and partnership of teachers, leaders, families, and parish communities. Our Catholic faith shapes the culture of our schools, the relationships within them, the way decisions are made, and the manner in which every student is known, challenged, and accompanied.
Each of our schools has its own history, gifts, and character, which we invite you to learn about and experience for yourselves. Together, they all share one purpose: to form young people as disciples of Jesus Christ, helping them to discover in Him the deepest desires of their hearts.
We are grateful that you are part of this mission and look forward to the work we will undertake together.
In Christ through Mary,
Rev. Christopher J Ford, PhD
Episcopal Vicar for Education and Formation
