Celebrating Two Extraordinary Catholic School Educators

One of the most meaningful moments of our annual Convocation is the opportunity to recognize the extraordinary educators who bring the mission of Catholic education to life each and every day. This year, we were incredibly proud to celebrate the recipients of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Teacher of the Year Awards.

Mr. John Agostino, Elementary Teacher of the Year

Mr. John Agostino, affectionately known to generations of students as “Mr. A,” has been named the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Elementary Teacher of the Year.

For more than a decade, Mr. Agostino has served students in the Diocese of Bridgeport with enthusiasm, creativity, kindness, and a deep commitment to Catholic education. From his years at St. Theresa School to his continued work as a middle school social studies teacher at Catholic Academy of Stamford, he has inspired countless students to learn, grow, and discover the world around them.

His impact reaches far beyond the classroom through memorable educational experiences, student activities, and the annual Veterans Prayer Service, which he has lovingly organized for the past six years. Through his dedication, Mr. Agostino helps students understand the importance of history, gratitude, service, sacrifice, and faith.

Mr. Timothy Weiss, High School Teacher of the Year

Mr. Timothy Weiss has been named the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton High School Teacher of the Year.

As a mathematics teacher entering his tenth year at St. Joseph High School, Mr. Weiss is dedicated to helping students build confidence, persevere through challenges, and discover that even the most difficult problems can become opportunities for growth.

His impact extends far beyond the mathematics classroom. Inspired by his faith and the example of St. John Bosco, Mr. Weiss helps students grow not only in knowledge but also in faith. From daily prayer and school liturgies to retreats, the Guitar Club, and sharing his musical talents in the spring musical pit orchestra, he generously gives his time and talents to the St. Joseph High School community.

Congratulations to Mr. Agostino and Mr. Weiss on this well deserved and meaningful recognition.

While these awards honor two exceptional educators, they also provide an opportunity to celebrate the incredible teachers throughout all 24 of our Catholic schools who dedicate themselves each day to forming young people in faith, knowledge, service, and love.
